Matchpoint.com Offers Yellow Pages Alternative

Fredric Paul writes about his recent chat with Peter Adams and the Matchpoint service for small businesses.

I like many parts of this idea. It’s cool to embed phone calls in emails, and smart to protect the privacy of the customers. And apart from a little bit of work, there doesn’t seem to be too much downside for participating companies. You decide what you’ll spend on a lead, and how much you’ll spend overall.

Matchpoint gives small businesses a really easy way to use the Net to acquire customers.

Greg Sterling posted this on his Screenwerk blog today and goes over the advantages offered by Matchpoint and its challenges.

The approach that Matchpoint has taken is smart and reflective of a deep understanding of the local market. The out-of-the-gate syndication strategy is also smart.”

Matchpoint leverages the phone, both by notifying local merchants that they have prospects/leads and then allowing them to provide detailed responses to the specific requests of consumers, which will theoretically elicit much more information from the local business and lead to a better decision-making process for consumers.
